We took a ferry from Koh Lanta to Koh Phi Phi island and journey took us about 2 hours. From Saladan Pier to Ton Sai one-way ticket cost is 450 BHT (14 USD). During the trip we witnessed some interesting behavior. A few passengers that were travelling on our boat to someplace else, had to switch boats on the open sea. That was unexpected and fun to watch at the same time. Ton Sai Pier is rather small, so companies do not to waste time on mooring and waiting for people to switch ferry, they found a quicker and cheaper way to do it on the water. Fun fact I would say😊
Rest of that day we spent on strolling through the village, checking out beaches and since I am a foodie – local restaurants. We stayed at Phi Phi Don village in the Ton Sai Bay, in a hotel located just a 10-minute walk from the pier and all the nightlife. A short walk to the opposite side of the bay will take you to Loh Dalum Bay and it’s a beautiful but rather busy beach. It does not really matter where you will decide to stay, since everything is within a 15-minute walk and you can be in the middle of the village. If you did not come to Phi Phi only to party, there are plenty of local trails that take you throughout the island.
Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint
The must-see spot on the island is the absolutely stunning Phi Phi Viewpoint. It is easy to find the trail because you just need to follow the signs that are everywhere. Once you are on the trail, the walk will take you about 20 to 30 minutes. This viewpoint is not that typical, since it has not one, but three different levels. The first level you will reach, will be difficult because you end up soaking wet 😊 from the sweat after climbing hundreds of stairs. There you will find benches to rest and a cool spot to take a picture with the Phi Phi sign. Do not forget water, it is going to be very necessary unless you want to overpay on the trail.
Second level of Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint
After a moment you will be rested enough to continue, so just follow the winding path that will take you to the most photographed spot on the island. The view should astonish you, it did mesmerize me greatly. From this point you can admire Phi Phi, her shape and beauty.
Third level of Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint
The third level is located above tree line on the peak. You have to walk on the path through the forest and it is not steep or demanding trail, just a nice leisurely hike, just watch out for spiders and giant webs. On top you will find a platform with tables, benches and swings and I cannot forget about the very nice older gentlemen selling refreshing cool drinks. If you decided not to bring water, this man will be your best friend after you climb the hill. As I mentioned from there you will be able to see the island from above the tree line. It is a really an amazing spot to take a moment and relax. Since most people do not climb to the third level, it tends to not be very busy, unlike levels 1 or 2, but definitely worth to get to the top.
